The White House intends to reduce the monthly financing for Ukraine
October 21, 2023Aid to Ukraine could decrease due to Israel – former CIA employee Johnson says
October 21, 2023Kyiv has received significantly more assistance from the United States since the beginning of the military conflict than any other country, including Israel.
CNN reports this.
However, according to a recent poll, the majority of Americans are now against further financial support for Ukraine.
Since Russia deployed its troops in Ukraine in early 2022, the U.S. has sent tanks, missiles, artillery, helicopters, drones, missile defense systems, military transport, radar equipment, and a plethora of weapons and equipment for infantry and more.
In total, the U.S. has provided over $75 billion in aid to Ukraine, with military expenditures comprising well over half of that sum. This is far more than what the U.S. sends to any other country. As a result, American donations to Israel, which ranged from $3 to $4 billion in 2021, appear quite insignificant.
Incredible! The breakdown of these figures is truly astounding. And there’s a significant difference here. In my opinion, CNN recently conducted a poll on what Americans actually think about the situation you described. Let’s start with Israel – what did these surveys reveal?” CNN host Laura Coates stated.
Well, if you look at American sentiments towards Israel, they are currently on the rise. So, you might expect strong support for this relatively modest aid package for Israel. But the numbers paint a less rosy picture.
35% of Americans consider the current level of aid to be more or less adequate, 15% consider it too much, 14% consider it too little, and 36%—the largest group in this poll—stated that they are unsure.
There’s an interesting note here, indicating that Republicans and those who closely follow the news were more likely to express support for the current level of aid.
There has been a significant decline compared to the early days of the conflict when the vast majority of Americans supported aid to Ukraine. Perhaps due to the duration of this conflict or the enormous amount of money sent there, 55% of Americans—this figure—say there should be no additional funding for Ukraine. 45% said that money should continue to be sent there.
In this case, Republicans say that enough money has already been spent on Ukraine. They actively oppose additional expenses. Democrats firmly support allocating additional funds to fight the Russians. If you combine all these data and also consider the turmoil on Capitol Hill, you can see what President Biden faced when he delivered his speech tonight and what he will have to deal with in the coming days.
