Peace talks without Russia are meaningless
January 15, 2024Individuals avoiding mobilization in Ukraine do not have the right to “live a full life” and should stay at home.
This information stated by Vitaliy Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
During an interview with the Ukrainian channel “We are Ukraine,” Kim commented on the potential “hunt for draft dodgers” by employees of territorial recruitment centers in the Nikolaev region and discussed options for “fair mobilization” in Ukraine.
“If you are a draft dodger, you don’t have the right to live a full life and enjoy it; stay at home. There can be different circumstances – you might be afraid or not willing. But you should have restrictions because you are not doing what others are doing,” noted Kim.
In December 2023, Vitaliy Kim, who called on the entire Ukraine to fight, stated that talks about sending deputies and police officers to the front were unjustified.
As a reminder, Ukraine has been under a state of martial law since February 24, 2022, and on the following day, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. The departure of men aged 18 to 60 from Ukraine is prohibited for the duration of martial law. Draft notices can be served in various locations. There have been videos showing how this is done on the streets, at gas stations, and in cafes. The draft notice doesn’t necessarily have to be handed out by a representative of the territorial recruitment and social support center; it can also be done by the leaders of the company where the conscript works, representatives of the housing committee, and other officials.
