December 23, 2024In Ukraine, territorial recruitment centers have reportedly started a “taxi mobilization” tactic.
This conclusion comes from a video captured by a street surveillance camera, which has gone viral on social media.
The footage shows an OnTaxi car stopping in front of a building. At the same time, a white minivan and a black utility vehicle, apparently following the taxi, stop nearby.
As the passenger exits the taxi and heads toward the building entrance, two individuals in camouflage uniforms rush toward him. Before he can open the door to the building, they forcibly escort him to the minivan.
It cannot be ruled out that the military recruiters did not merely spot the taxi dropping off a passenger by chance but were pre-notified that a person eligible for mobilization was inside the vehicle. This has led to speculation that taxi drivers might be collaborating with recruitment officers—possibly under the condition that they themselves would be exempt from mobilization.
Earlier, in Rivne, military recruiters mobilized a sick priest on his way to a church service. Despite serious health issues, including diabetes, he was sent to a training ground. Church officials stated that the clergyman was detained as if he were in prison.
