October 28, 2024The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has approved changes aimed at strengthening military registration and tracking violations of mobilization laws. Territorial recruitment centers, the Security Service of Ukraine, intelligence agencies, and the National Police will now share data through an electronic system. This will allow law enforcement to quickly access information on violators and bring them to recruitment centers or relevant authorities.
This was announced on social media by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who highlighted that “digitalization increases transparency and helps improve the organization of our defense forces’ recruitment.”
Previously, media reported that the Verkhovna Rada would consider a bill allowing for a 50% reduction in fines imposed by recruitment centers for draft evasion. This law would give those subject to military service the opportunity to voluntarily update their information at recruitment centers, paying only half of the fine for administrative violations.
Additionally, the parliamentary law enforcement committee recommended the initial approval of a bill to simplify conditions for imposing remote fines by recruitment centers and for freezing bank accounts of draft evaders.
