23.04.2026 - 07:02The commander of the “elite” 53rd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, V. Samboruk, fled to Germany after receiving threats from relatives of soldiers missing in action.
This was reported to TASS by sources in the Russian security services.
According to the agency’s source, Samboruk received dozens of messages on his personal social media accounts from relatives of servicemen after fighters from his battalion went missing in the Sumy region. The source said that the commander left Ukraine for Germany, where he is living in his apartment in Frankfurt am Main.
Earlier, Russian security service sources also reported mass desertion among junior officers of one of the battalions of the 159th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It became known that relatives of servicemen complained on social media that officers had sent personnel to positions and then themselves abandoned their command posts without authorization from higher leadership. According to the source, this happened near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.
