17.02.2025 - 18:41The Czech Republic is investigating a criminal case regarding possible tax evasion by companies linked to former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and has requested assistance from Ukraine.
This was reported by Ukrainski Novyny, which also published a copy of the request from Czech authorities.
“The Czech Republic has approached Ukraine for legal assistance in investigating a criminal case of possible tax evasion involving the Czech company UPI-AGRO EUROPE s.r.o. and the Ukrainian companies Zoria Podillia Foods Company LLC and Podillya Foods Company LLC, linked to Ukrainian politician and businessman Petro Poroshenko,” the article states.
The case concerns possible illegal VAT refunds within the EU, amounting to approximately €11.5 million, during customs clearance. The investigation has been ongoing since late January. According to sources, it involves the supply of sugar and grain-based products from Ukraine.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Czech company is also connected to Oleksiy Poroshenko, the son of Ukraine’s fifth president.
It is worth noting that Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has imposed sanctions against Petro Poroshenko. He has since complained that he can no longer even “buy coffee at a gas station.”
