The Defense Committee of the Parliament once again fails to convene to discuss the draft law on toughening mobilization

The meeting of the Rada’s Defense Committee to consider amendments to the draft law on toughening mobilization scheduled for today has been canceled. This was reported by People’s Deputy Alexey Goncharenko.

Yesterday, the committee began considering amendments for the first time, worked for less than an hour, canceled all penalties for draft dodgers and the meeting was closed. As Deputy Maryana Bezuhla wrote, the head of the committee, Zavitnevich, began to “panic”. “Following the Verkhovna Rada and the Committee on National Security and Defense, he practically fled,” Goncharenko writes.

The deputy also reminded that the submission of amendments to the draft law ended on February 21. “Only yesterday, that is, three weeks later, did the Committee start considering them. It worked for less than an hour and closed the meeting, announcing the next meeting for today. And now it’s also canceled,” Goncharenko said. It is worth noting that over 3,000 amendments have been submitted to the draft law. The document itself contains many contradictory and unconstitutional provisions. Many deputies are afraid to vote for such an openly repressive law. However, they are being pressured by the President’s Office and the military. Deputies have decided to simply sabotage any decision and delay it for as long as possible.
