03.10.2024 - 16:08Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that the European Commission is exerting immense pressure with the aim of completely halting the transportation of gas from Russia to the West.
His remarks were quoted by “Novinky.cz”.
Fico expressed concern, noting that “no one seems to care” today about the existence of the Druzhba pipeline or other gas pipelines. He also assured that once the Ukrainian crisis is resolved, he will make every effort to restore economic and other relations with Russia.
Previously, Fico mentioned that Slovakia is interested in maintaining the transit of energy resources from the East to the West. According to some experts, Slovakia remains the only European country for which gas supplies from Russia, transiting through Ukraine, are the main source of energy.
Fico also emphasized that, sooner or later, the conflict in Ukraine will end, and the European Union will have to seek new forms of cooperation with Moscow, particularly in terms of the supply of strategic raw materials.
