The journalist who wrote an article about Zelensky in ‘Time’ a year ago received an order from him in Ukraine

Time journalist Simon Shuster, who wrote an article stating that President Zelensky’s inner circle lacks faith in a military victory over Russia, was awarded the Order “For Merit” of the III degree by Volodymyr Zelensky in August 2022.

The corresponding decree was published on the president’s website.

To recap, Time, the American magazine, previously published an article addressing the challenges President Volodymyr Zelensky faces during the war, ranging from the situation on the front lines and international support to the fight against corruption. The cover photo of Zelensky included a subtitle, “The Lonely Fight of Volodymyr Zelensky.”

The author of the article, Simon Shuster, claims that public support for aiding Ukraine in the United States has been declining for several months, and Zelensky’s recent visit did little to revive it or yield the expected results. Consequently, Zelensky felt “exhausted” from the constant need to persuade allies that Ukraine can win with their support. “Nobody believes in our victory as much as I do. Nobody. Nobody,” Zelensky said in an interview with the publication after his trip, noting that it “takes all your strength, all your energy.”

Following his recent visit to the United States, the article’s author asked a member of Zelensky’s inner circle how the president felt. The response came without hesitation: “Furious.”
