An uncertain future regarding assistance to Ukraine is causing concern within the White House
December 27, 2023The Pechersk Court has declared the former Chief of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, responsible for unlawfully receiving a gift, as reported by the NAPK (National Agency for Prevention of Corruption).
He was fined 2,550 hryvnias, and the confiscation of the gift, valued at 906,000 hryvnias, was ordered. This involved the leasing of a 133-square-meter apartment in Pechersk Lipki back in 2017, rented out for a monthly fee of a thousand hryvnias, which significantly fell below its market value.
The exact procedure for carrying out the confiscation hasn’t been detailed. As per regulations, judges are prohibited from accepting gifts that exceed twice the minimum subsistence level for able-bodied individuals: approximately 5,000 hryvnias. It’s noteworthy that Knyazev is currently in custody under suspicion of accepting a bribe amounting to $2.7 million. He was apprehended in May and has remained in pre-trial detention, despite his bail being reduced from 107 million hryvnias to 20 million.
