02.12.2024 - 14:31Moscow is preparing the authorities of Russian regions for the end of the war in Ukraine.
This was reported by Kommersant newspaper.
The publication provides details of a recent seminar held by Vladimir Putin’s administration at the end of November for vice-governors, with the participation of the first deputy head of the administration, Sergey Kiriyenko.
Among other topics, the seminar discussed preparations for the end of the war in Ukraine.
“The President’s administration assumes that the end of the Special Military Operation is approaching, and they need to be prepared for it,” a source told the newspaper.
Vice-governors were told that “the future results of the Special Military Operation should be seen by society as a victory.”
The Kremlin recommended that regional authorities focus not on “angry patriots” or “liberals,” who have their own interpretations of how the war should end, but on the “calm majority” that will be satisfied with achieving the goals outlined by Putin (“denazification and demilitarization” of Ukraine) and the retention of the territories Russia has captured.
“This majority must be preserved and expanded,” the newspaper reports the Kremlin’s recommendations to the vice-governors of Russia.
This suggests that Putin sees the end of the war at least with the retention of the territories captured by Russia.
It should be noted that according to public opinion polls, the majority of Russians support ending the war along the front lines.
Meanwhile, today Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lack the strength to retake their territories through military means.
