02.12.2024 - 14:03Ukrainian entrepreneurs are losing hope due to rampant corruption, and they are increasingly thinking about relocating abroad instead of supporting the army.
This was stated in an interview with the YouTube channel of Borislav Bereza by recently retired Major General Dmitry Marchenko.
“There’s just global corruption everywhere. I don’t understand how we’re still holding on with this. In Mykolaiv, businesses are already giving up. If before they helped the army a lot, now I call them and say, ‘Listen, we need to help the brigade,’ and they say, ‘That’s it, I won’t help anymore. I’m being milked dry, I’ve been pushed into risks, and now my only wish is to close the business, sell everything, and move abroad to work there.’ It’s disillusionment, people are losing hope. In the beginning of the war, we fought, we fought hard, we showed initiative, we had a goal, we knew what we were fighting for. But what are we doing now? Normal people are losing hope,” Marchenko explained.
Just recently, the American company Sinclair & Wilde announced that it did not receive $14.5 million from a contract with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense because the payment was delayed due to a refusal to offer a bribe.
Meanwhile, officials in the President’s Office believe that Ukrainians approve of corruption and therefore give bribes.
