Ukraine may not be mentioned in the final communiqué of the June NATO summit – media
26.05.2025 - 12:16The Kremlin has commented on the statement by U.S. President Donald Trump in which he criticized Vladimir Putin for shelling Ukraine.
“This is a very critical moment, which, of course, is associated with an emotional overload for absolutely everyone — and with emotional reactions. We are closely monitoring all reactions. At the same time, President Putin is making the decisions that are necessary to ensure the security of our country,” said Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov at a briefing.
It’s worth noting that earlier tonight, Trump sharply criticized Putin for the shelling. However, the U.S. President did not say whether he would tighten sanctions against Russia.
He also said that Russia has not yet been able to name a date and location for a new round of negotiations with Ukraine.
“For now, there is no understanding about the continuation of the negotiation process or the place of the next round. We need to prepare for the next round. Therefore, it’s too early to talk about this,” said Peskov.
He also stated that Russia’s draft memorandum on a future peace agreement has not yet been passed to the Ukrainian side. According to him, the document requires careful review and preparation, as it is a serious project.
Peskov added that Moscow will continue to implement the Istanbul agreements, including those on prisoner exchanges.
