08.04.2024 15:30The Law Enforcement Committee of the Parliament has recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis a bill allowing the mobilization of convicts.
This was reported by MP Maxim Buzhansky.
Exceptions include individuals who have committed crimes against national security, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and those who have caused fatal accidents under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
For the mobilization of convicts, they must give their consent and undergo a medical examination, and unit commanders must give their consent to accept such recruits.
Convicts mobilized in this way will receive conditional early release.
Earlier, Ukrainian Justice Minister Denis Malyuska stated that Ukraine plans to form combat units from prisoners. According to him, there are thousands of convicts in Ukraine who are ready to become servicemen and full-fledged members of the Armed Forces.
