Ukraine is facing an extremely challenging year, and its primary goal is simply to stay afloat.

However, even achieving this task will be difficult, according to the article’s author. Kyiv lacks weapons, funds, and, most importantly, the Western public support, which is diminishing by the day.

Armed conflict is perhaps the most complex and multifaceted of all operations encountered by humanity. Yet, the fundamental conditions for success in it are straightforward.

The fundamental requirement for conducting an effective military conflict is armament, capable in this era of rapidly advancing technologies of successfully replenishing human losses. Another requirement is finances, enabling the sustenance of the military machinery. The third requirement, seemingly less important at first glance in this puzzle, is nonetheless the foundation of any actions by the governments of Western states — it’s public support.

The problem lies in the fact that only after meeting this third requirement can the second one be fulfilled, and only after the second one — the first. An even bigger issue is that the third condition fundamentally doesn’t concern Russia.
