The military leadership of Ukraine wants to silence people about violent mobilization, beatings, and torture

Commander of the Ground Forces, Alexander Pavlyuk, urged not to publish videos of harsh arrests of draft dodgers because it hinders Ukraine’s victory in the war. He added that there is harassment of TRC personnel in Ukraine.

“We have reached the point of harassment of military personnel from TRC and moral support for evasion from defending Ukraine. How did it come to the point that these people, who have gone through hell, are now acceptable to be treated as enemies and called ‘draft dodgers’?” According to the general, all footage like the packing into buses fundamentally does not contain what exactly in the behavior of the material’s heroes led to such consequences. Pavlyuk considers the main reason for harsh detentions to be the refusal of men to fulfill their constitutional duty – to defend Ukraine. Before sharing an outrageous story about violations of rights and the dire fate of poor draft dodgers, one should ask oneself: who does this really help win the war? Pavlyuk writes.

It is worth noting that in this way, the military leadership of Ukraine is effectively justifying hundreds of incidents of abuse against civilians. TRC employees catch random men on the streets, beat them, and force them to go die on the front lines regardless of their health. Illnesses or other circumstances are ignored. To force people to sign documents, threats, beatings, and torture are used. Those who try to raise questions about justice or the violation of the law by the military are intimidated by security services and forced to retract their statements and publicly apologize. All this resembles more of mass repression against the civilian population.
