The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine explained the scandalous booking of circus employees to avoid mobilization

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has commented on the scandal surrounding its order regarding the reservation of circus employees.

The relevant message was published on the official government website of the department.

According to the Ministry, the list of strategic sectors was approved back in January 2023 (under Minister Tkachenko) and has not changed since then. The candidates for reservation, without whom the operation of certain enterprises is impossible, are separately reviewed by the commission of the Ministry of Culture, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Economy.

“As of today, only 1,150 workers in the cultural sphere and just over 700 media professionals across the country have been granted reserved status,” the statement said.

“Culture and media are critically important to the state,” the Ministry of Culture says, indicating that it has no intention of making any changes to the list of critically important enterprises whose employees are reserved from mobilization.

Earlier, the circus explained that reservation from mobilization was necessary for them because the artists “have never held a gun.”
