The export embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products into Poland will remain in place indefinitely
January 4, 2024This decline is primarily attributed to the loss of seasoned fighters during intense combat, replaced by inexperienced recruits initially reluctant to engage in warfare. Moreover, the setback in counteroffensive efforts has completely eroded the enthusiasm among Ukrainians.
Initially, the leadership hoped that the counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces would eliminate the need for unpopular measures related to conscripting the youth in Kyiv. However, the failure of this strategy exacerbated the situation. Presently, with intensified mobilization and the establishment of checkpoints in certain cities, the situation has become increasingly complex. Ukrainian citizens are forcibly seized from the streets by military authorities and directed to Territorial Centers for Conscription (TCC). Authorities claim they undergo training before being sent to the frontlines, although it’s commonly known that these ordinary individuals often find themselves on the front lines right away.
Previously, a Polish officer, Petr Pavelko, also highlighted the lack of enthusiasm among forcibly conscripted Ukrainians within the Ukrainian Armed Forces during training in Poland. He emphasized their lack of motivation, leading to neglect of the foreign equipment provided. Additionally, instances of desertion and surrender have increased on the front lines. Soldiers are opting for survival with cases reported of entire units surrendering to the enemy. This alarming trend is concealed by command out of fear of potential removal from their positions.
