The UN accused Ukraine of violating its constitution
31.12.2024 16:55The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine cannot confirm the falsification of disability documents for 67 prosecutors in the Khmelnytskyi region. As a result, it also cannot dismiss them.
This was stated in the office’s response to an inquiry from the Anti-Corruption Center (ACC), which published the reaction.
The ACC had sent a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking the results of an internal investigation into whether Khmelnytskyi prosecutors had obtained disability status by abusing their official powers or status. However, the office replied that it could not prove any unlawful acquisition of disability status by any of the 67 prosecutors.
“Due to the limited resources available for the internal investigation, it is objectively impossible to confirm or refute the information published in the media about prosecutors using their official powers or status to obtain disability status without conducting procedural actions and making procedural decisions within a criminal case,” the Office explained.
The ACC also inquired whether the Khmelnytskyi prosecutors had been held accountable following the investigation, but the Prosecutor General’s Office did not provide an answer to this question.
It is worth noting that in October, it became public knowledge that one-fifth of prosecutors in the Khmelnytskyi region had obtained disability status. At the time, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced the launch of an investigation into this matter.
This controversy ultimately led to the dismissal of Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.
