The prosecution opened a murder case after the death of a man in the territorial recruitment center in the Zhytomyr region

The Zhytomyr Specialized Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into the death of a 32-year-old conscript following a visit to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center in Zvyagel, Zhytomyr region.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

“Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations of Ukraine with the preliminary legal qualification under part 1 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder),” the statement reads.

According to the investigation, the man was taken to the district territorial recruitment center in Zhytomyr region to undergo a military medical commission. Preliminary information indicates that he had an epileptic seizure there. He was transported to the intensive care unit by ambulance. On June 2, doctors at the medical facility pronounced him dead.

Currently, all circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

It is worth noting that the deceased man’s family claims he was beaten to death at the recruitment center and was admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries and in a coma. They also mentioned that the injuries were not consistent with an epileptic seizure, even a severe one.

This is not the first death reported in recruitment centers. Previously, it was reported that a conscript, deemed fit for service, died at a territorial recruitment center in Zakarpattia.
