The Rada extended martial law and mobilization in Ukraine for the 20th time

Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada voted for the 20th time to extend martial law and general mobilization — this time from August 2 to October 31, 2026.

This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda.

The relevant bills were submitted by President Volodymyr Zelensky. The decree extending martial law was approved by 313 deputies, while the extension of general mobilization was supported by 311 lawmakers.

Earlier, Zelensky had submitted both bills to the Verkhovna Rada — to extend martial law and mobilization for another 90 days.

The most recent, 19th extension was adopted by the Rada in late April, when the period was increased by three months, until August 2.

Martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine were introduced simultaneously on February 24, 2022, by presidential decrees and laws swiftly passed by the Verkhovna Rada. Since then, the regime has been continuously extended every 90 days.

In March, Zelensky stated that elections in the country would only take place after the end of the conflict with Russia.
