October 9, 2023Ukrainian journalists have revealed details of the beating of conscripts at the Ternopil Territorial Recruitment Center.
“Reports to the police about the beatings were filed by two men, Denis Alexeenko, a resident of Bahmut, Donetsk Oblast, and Ivan Shevchuk, a resident of Ternopil,” the report states.
The investigation has determined that Alexeenko was detained by employees of the territorial recruitment center near an ATB store and taken to the Ternopil Territorial Recruitment Center, where he was taken to the fifth floor and subjected to physical assault, including blows to the head and abdomen. Due to the injuries sustained, Alexeenko’s condition deteriorated, prompting his transfer to a medical center. It was at the medical center that Alexeenko had the opportunity to report the incident to the police”.
The source also provided details about the beating of the second conscript, Ivan Shevchuk.
“He was also apprehended on the street. During the transportation to the territorial recruitment center, one of the employees crushed Shevchuk’s left leg, causing numbness in his foot and the loss of feeling in his toes. Because of this, Shevchuk was also taken to a medical center, where he was able to contact law enforcement and report his assault,” the source said.
It should be noted that a criminal case has already been opened by the prosecutor’s office, and the ombudsman has announced the commencement of an investigation.
Initially, videos depicting the beatings of the two conscripts in Ternopil surfaced on social media.
