The United States supplies Ukraine with 90% of its military equipment. The crisis in Congress is putting this assistance at risk, according to a former diplomat
October 6, 2023‘Ukraine is losing to Russia at the strategic level’ – former presidential office advisor Arestovich says
October 7, 2023Since the introduction of the ban on foreign travel for “non-governmental purposes” in Ukraine, around 2,000 officials have not been allowed to leave the country.
This information was shared by Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service, during a briefing.
“These individuals did not travel on official business, did not fall under the exceptions, such as when single parents can visit their children, and did not require medical treatment abroad,” explained Demchenko.
As a reminder, the National Security and Defense Council imposed the ban on officials’ foreign travel in January 2023. According to the NSDC’s decision, during mobilization and a state of war, government officials can only leave Ukraine for official business trips.
Just a month after the ban was introduced, border guards reported that around 100 officials had been denied exit from Ukraine.
In July, following a scandal involving former Member of Parliament Yuriy Aristov vacationing in the Maldives, all previously approved orders for business trips were revoked for officials and deputies. The former Speaker of the Parliament, Dmitry Razumkov, mentioned that the most likely way for members of parliament to travel abroad would be as part of official delegations.
