The U.S. has halted aid to Ukraine, including military assistance, as part of an executive order by former President Donald Trump suspending all foreign funding.
This was reported by Politico, citing three current and two former State Department officials.
According to the report, the State Department has implemented an immediate and large-scale suspension of foreign aid. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a new directive halting funding for most ongoing foreign assistance programs for a period of 90 days.
The “stop orders” apply to aid for all countries except Israel and Egypt.
Sources indicate that this directive also includes military assistance to Ukraine, a development that reportedly came as a surprise to State Department staff.
However, in response to this report, journalist Ostap Yarysh from the Ukrainian branch of *Voice of America*, citing the Pentagon, stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s order to suspend U.S. foreign aid does not allegedly apply to military support for Ukraine.
