The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine arrested the former head of one of the departments of the Security Service of Ukraine on suspicion of procurement at inflated prices

The highest anti-corruption court of Ukraine has arrested former chief of the Department of Economic Support of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Alexander Provotorov, for two months with an alternative bail of three million hryvnias (approximately 71,396 euros).

This was reported by journalist Oleg Novikov.

According to the investigation, Provotorov and his first deputy organized the purchase of fuel and lubricants for SBU’s service vehicles and armored vehicles at artificially inflated prices. They involved several controlled commercial structures from Kyiv, engaged in the trade of petroleum products, and provided false information in the documentation. The damage is estimated at over 26 million hryvnias (approximately 618,768 euros).

Provotorov was dismissed from the SBU by the president’s decree in March 2023. In the summer of 2021, he was involved in a scandal when, being drunk at the Kyiv railway station, he broke a window in a train carriage.

It’s worth mentioning that the head of the department of the SBU was removed from his position and sent to the front after a scandal involving the purchase of luxury real estate.
