“The U.S. will give Ukraine military security guarantees but demands territorial concessions,” – said the Polish prime minister
16.12.2025 08:01Washington expects Kyiv to make a decision on territorial issues in order to end the war in Ukraine.
This is reported by Sky News, citing U.S. officials.
“Now Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must discuss the territorial question with his team,” Bloomberg adds.
It is noted that following the meeting, the U.S. and Ukraine drafted a three-page outline of a settlement plan.
At the same time, The Guardian writes that U.S. President Donald Trump may hold a phone call today with Zelensky and several European leaders, who are currently in Berlin.
It is also emphasized that during the talks between the U.S. and Ukrainian representatives, the issue of frozen Russian assets and the possibility of using them for Ukraine’s reconstruction was discussed.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian media report that the Ukrainian and American delegations are continuing negotiations in Berlin, but without Volodymyr Zelensky’s participation.
Zelensky has already stated that his talks with Donald Trump’s team were productive, but made it clear that no agreement has been reached on all contentious points.
Politico also reported that Zelensky once again rejected the U.S. proposal to create a demilitarized “free economic zone” in Donbas, but agreed to give up NATO membership.
