27.03.2024 - 18:33Ukraine’s Ambassador to Germany, Alexei Makeev, has urged Ukrainian refugees residing there to seek employment. Such letters have begun to arrive at the homes of Ukrainian citizens living in Germany. In addition to Makeev, it was co-signed by German Labor Minister Hubertus Heil and Commissioner for Refugee Integration Daniel Terzenbach.
“Since the start of the war, 160,000 Ukrainian citizens have been able to find employment in Germany. Get employed, too! Through work, you will be able to meet new people, improve your German language skills, enhance your qualifications, and gain experience in the German labor market,” the joint message says.
It also states that the skills acquired by Ukrainians can be applied upon their return home – for example, by working for German companies in Ukraine or in other EU countries. The rest of the letter provides recommendations on how to find employment in Germany.

It is worth noting that similar envelopes were sent to all refugees without exception, including those who are already employed.
Recall that earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the West to cease payments to Ukrainian refugees and transfer these funds to the Ukrainian budget. Furthermore, he has repeatedly urged Ukrainian men of conscription age to return to Ukraine.
