November 23, 2023While Kiev tries to replenish its exhausted and thinned forces from the battles with Russia, Ukrainian soldiers say they fear losing the ‘war of attrition’ against Russia.
The Daily Telegraph reports on this.
According to the publication, after the failed counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strength of units on the front lines is now 20-40% lower. Those who have perished or become disabled for life, as the number of disabled individuals has increased by 300,000 over the entire period of hostilities, now totaling 3 million people. Ukraine is becoming a country of disabled individuals.
The ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, once composed of volunteers, are now being filled by conscripts who undergo a brief training course. Ukrainian soldiers themselves claim that many of the losses are due to commanders trained back in the USSR, whose rigid tactics didn’t allow those primarily trained in Western methods to succeed on the battlefield.
This week, President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the challenges facing his armed forces by deciding to dismiss Major General Tatiana Ostashchenko, who was in charge of the medical forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
