Half of the required winter volume: Ukraine has lost nine gigawatts of production energy capacity
18.08.2024 - 16:29Ukrainian troops conducting an offensive in the Kursk region are experiencing significant losses in military equipment.
This is written by columnist David Axe in an article for Forbes.
“Ukrainians are particularly feeling the losses of infantry equipment, including tracked armored fighting vehicles and wheeled transporters. They are losing these valuable units at nearly twice the usual rate,” the publication states.
The advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) is also seriously slowed by constant attacks from Russian drones, artillery fire, and ambushes by Russian forces, the journalist comments. Axe also predicts that Ukraine’s losses in the Kursk operation will only increase in the future.
According to military analysts, in the first nine days after breaking into Russian territory, the UAF lost four tanks and 41 infantry vehicles. Among the damaged equipment was a British-made Challenger 2 tank and several American-supplied Stryker combat vehicles.
Earlier, The Times reported that Russian forces were counterattacking the UAF in the Kursk region at the end of October.
Meanwhile, according to The Guardian, Ukraine is trying to find a balance between capturing territory in the Kursk region and losing it in Donbas.
