Zelensky has invited Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to the border for negotiations on the blockade
21.02.2024 16:17In January, the bill was voted on in the first reading, but for it to come into effect, it must be re-supported by the parliament after all amendments and then signed by the president. The information about the voting date was provided by MP Alexei Honcharenko.
At the moment, the document has already received over 2,000 amendments, which the committee must review before the second reading. Earlier, MPs wanted to vote on the document before February 24th, to coincide with the second anniversary of the start of the war. However, it is impossible to consider such a large number of amendments in time.
On one hand, the bill is extremely controversial and violates human rights, so many MPs want to soften it. In addition, submitting thousands of amendments means delaying its procedural voting. This is a legislative trick that the opposition has often used against unpopular laws by the authorities.
