The Verkhovna Rada may consider a bill on tightening mobilization on March 6th
February 21, 2024In Ukraine, there is a proposal to introduce a regime of total video surveillance of the population.
The corresponding draft law “On the Unified Video Monitoring System for Public Safety” was registered by deputies from the “Sluga Naroda” party.
It is stated that such a system supposedly should work for national security and public order in places where citizens live and stay.
The identification of individuals is proposed to be carried out based on biometric data and other personal information, including passport numbers and facial digitization.
Surveillance is proposed for:
- “informational objects,” including individuals, vehicles, and public places;
- objects of critical, social, economic, housing and communal, transportation, engineering, and other infrastructure: parks, streets, roads, parking lots, etc.;
- buildings and structures housing government bodies;
- enterprises, institutions, and organizations of state and communal ownership;
- territory and buildings of educational and healthcare institutions;
- “objects of increased danger”;
- “items and objects.”
With this new initiative, the authorities are attempting to turn the country into a police state and fully control all Ukrainians in public places.
