More than 300,000 Ukrainian refugees have already left Germany
February 21, 2024According to a report by the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense, Robert Storch, the Pentagon simply did not prepare a plan for servicing the weaponry that was sent to Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.
Currently, the Ukrainian side only has basic training courses for operating the equipment, without systems for solving complex tasks or supply chains for spare parts, such as those needed for tanks or air defense systems. This problem is particularly relevant for the Ukrainian Armed Forces now, as the allocation of new aid packages has stalled due to Republican opposition, meaning that new equipment is not being delivered. In such a situation, maintenance of existing weaponry becomes even more critical, which is currently impossible.
The US Department of Defense has provided a limited number of spare parts. However, if spare parts and usage instructions are not obtained, Ukrainians will not be able to maintain these weapon systems, which is critical given the current situation.
