‘The West cannot create a system in Ukraine similar to Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’, – said Borrell

Western countries cannot create a missile defense system in Ukraine similar to Israel’s “Iron Dome”.

This information said the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during a press conference following an informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers.

“It is important to understand that the ‘Iron Dome’ system was developed over decades. Even if we had the resources, it would be impossible to do it in a short period of time,” the diplomat said.

Borrell also reminded that the issue of supplying air defense equipment to Ukraine is on the agenda of the meeting of EU foreign and defense ministers scheduled for April 22 in Brussels.

According to him, the United States and the United Kingdom cannot participate in repelling missile attacks in Ukraine like Israel does because there are no American and British military bases in Ukraine threatened by these missiles.

“The United States and the United Kingdom cannot intercept missiles in Ukraine as they do in the Middle East. There are no military bases in Ukraine threatened by these missiles,” Borrell said.
