04.11.2025 10:02The head of Ukraine’s national energy company “Ukrenergo,” Vitalii Zaichenko, has urged Ukrainian citizens to dress more warmly at home instead of using electric heaters to warm their rooms in order to avoid overloading the power grid.
He made this statement during a broadcast of the national news telethon.
According to Zaichenko, household consumers are now the main users of electricity in Ukraine, surpassing industrial ones.
“Household consumers use the most electricity in Ukraine. They should be the first to change their behavior. Don’t heat your homes to a comfortable 20–22 degrees Celsius — put on an extra sweater instead, and in doing so, help our energy system cope with the challenges we are facing,” Zaichenko said.
He added that “every degree saved is a contribution to the stability of our energy system.”
Meanwhile, during one of the latest strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, substations supplying power to the country’s nuclear plants and other critical facilities essential for nuclear safety were damaged.
