Tomorrow Polish farmers threaten to resume the blockade at the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint

Farmers intend to close the Ukraine-Poland border if they do not receive written guarantees to meet their demands, particularly subsidies for purchasing corn and maintaining agricultural tax without changes.

The leader of the protesters, Roman Kondruv, told RAR in a comment that written assurances would automatically stop the blockade at the checkpoint. Polish farmers initially voiced this demand on December 25, but apparently, no one was willing to make concessions to them. The blockade was halted a day before, but since the issue remains unresolved it isexpected to continue.

It’s worth noting that Polish farmers joined transporters who previously staged a blockade at the Ukrainian border, accusing Ukraine of economic issues due to unfair competition. In Kyiv, there was hope that the new Polish government would rectify the situation, but nothing has changed.
