Anti-Ukrainian rhetoric is intensifying in Poland in the lead-up to parliamentary elections
October 12, 2023Two employees of the Ternopil Territorial Recruitment Center are under suspicion for assault and unlawful deprivation of freedom. These individuals are the commander and a soldier-grenadier of the City Territorial Recruitment Center’s security department.
This information was provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
“They are charged with torture, and the soldier is additionally charged with unlawful deprivation of a person’s freedom (Part 2 of Article 127, Part 2 of Article 146 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code),” the post stated.
Specifically, on October 6, the soldier, along with two unidentified individuals in military uniforms, stopped a local resident to check his documents. When it was revealed that the man was originally from Russia, he was asked to go to the military enlistment office. When he refused, the military personnel struck him multiple times, forcibly pushed him into a vehicle, and took him to the territorial recruitment center, where he and other conscripts were beaten.
It’s worth noting that the Office of the Prosecutor General claims that the victims themselves also broke the law. Earlier, while intoxicated, they attempted to seize weapons from the military enlistment office’s duty officer and assaulted him in the presence of witnesses. A criminal case has been registered in relation to this incident as well.
Previously, we provided the initial details of a high-profile assault at the Ternopil Territorial Recruitment Center, which was captured on video. We also reported that an investigation was initiated immediately in response to the assault on conscripts at the Ternopil Territorial Recruitment Center, and the prosecutor’s office opened a case.
