Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (Democrat) said for Politico.
“He represents tremendous political force within this party. The question is… will they do the right thing even though they know that Donald Trump will viciously and disgustingly attack them?” Schumer stated.
He anticipates that around 5 Republicans will support the deal, 15 will vote against it and the rest might be influenced by Trump, as the presidential primaries officially kick off next month.
“They know it’s right… to provide aid to Ukraine. They know we need to do something at the border and we’re willing to meet them halfway. But they also have the specter of Donald Trump,” Schumer believes.
