FT: Fast-tracking Ukraine’s EU accession is a trap set by Putin and Trump
16.01.2026 12:42Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna party, predicted that the next five years would be the last in the history of an independent Ukraine.
She made the statement during a hearing at the High Anti-Corruption Court, where the court was considering a preventive measure in her case.
“We will have a coat of arms, a flag, an anthem, and a people scattered all over the world—but apart from that, there will be nothing,” Tymoshenko said.
She also called President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government a “fascist regime.” Responding in court to a prosecutor’s remark that she could freely leave Ukraine, Tymoshenko said she intended to remain in the country until “Ukraine is freed from this de facto fascist regime.”
“I didn’t leave the country even in Yanukovych’s time, when I knew they could imprison me. And now I will stay in Ukraine for as long as this de facto fascist regime exists,” Tymoshenko said.
Earlier at the same hearing, she named the NABU informant who allegedly leaked recordings of her conversations to law enforcement. According to Tymoshenko, it was Servant of the People MP Ihor Kopytin.
