20.08.2024 - 23:50Some NATO countries have failed to fulfill their promises to provide Ukraine with air defense systems.
This information reported according to a report by Bloomberg.
The agency recalls that during the July NATO summit, member states pledged to soon deliver air defense systems and other weaponry to Ukraine, including at least five Patriot missile systems or their equivalents, as well as dozens of shorter-range defense systems.
However, according to sources, most of these deliveries are unlikely to occur by the fall, a time when Russia is expected to intensify attacks on critical infrastructure. In light of these delays, President Volodymyr Zelensky has renewed his public appeals to Western allies to expedite the provision of defensive measures to Ukraine.
Western media had previously reported that the air defense systems promised at the NATO summit would not be able to fully protect Ukraine’s major border cities. As a result, cities like Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv would remain vulnerable to attacks.
