11.09.2025 - 16:03Ukraine has allocated a land plot to the German defense concern Rheinmetall, which will be intended for the construction of a plant for the production of ammunition.
This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel.
According to him, he met with the head of the concern, Armin Papperger, on the sidelines of the DSEI 2025 arms exhibition in London. It is specified that Kyiv and the German side finalized the procedures for launching the new joint production.
“On September 9, land was allocated in a safe region of Ukraine, where a new Rheinmetall plant for the manufacture of shells for the needs of the Defense Forces [of Ukraine] will be built,” Shmyhal noted.
As the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry explained, other projects were also discussed, including the development of capabilities for the repair and production of armored vehicles.
Rheinmetall is one of the largest defense companies in Germany. The concern is also engaged in the supply of military equipment, including tanks and ammunition.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the start of construction of a weapons plant in Denmark. According to him, the production will be aimed at components for missiles and drones. At the same time, the Ukrainian leader did not specify where exactly the plant would be opened.
