This is according to data published on the CIA website.
According to country tables, Ukraine’s mortality rate this year is 18.6 per 1,000 people, putting it in first place. The top ten countries following Ukraine are:
- Lithuania – 15.2;
- Serbia – 14.9;
- Latvia – 14.7;
- Romania – 14.6;
- Hungary – 14.5;
- Bulgaria – 14.2;
- Moldova – 14.2;
- Russia – 14;
- Belarus – 13.3.
Ukraine’s birth rate stands at 6 per 1,000 people.
Earlier, media reports indicated that the mortality rate in Ukraine in 2024 is three times higher than the birth rate. The Ministry of Justice reported that in the first half of the year, 87,655 children were born, which is 9% less than in the same period in 2023 and 1.5 times fewer than in 2021. Currently, for every newborn citizen, there are three deaths.
