Ukraine has dropped from 92nd to 105th place in the happiness ranking over the course of a year

The annual ranking is compiled by the international portal World Happiness Report. Interestingly, Ukraine’s closest neighbor, Russia, ranks significantly higher in the ranking. Over the past year, Russia has only dropped 2 positions, from 70th to 72nd place.

The ranking is based on various economic and social indicators, as well as surveys of people. For the seventh consecutive year, Finland has topped the list. It is followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Israel. For the first time in over 10 years, the United States and Germany have dropped out of the top twenty rankings. The USA occupies the 23rd place, while Germany is in the 24th position. Afghanistan holds the last place.

Ukraine is ranked 105th, sandwiched between the African countries Cameroon and Namibia. Furthermore, Ukraine ranks last among the former Soviet countries and at the bottom among all European countries. Following Ukraine are only the poorest countries in Asia and Africa.
