Marchenko: Ukraine has exhausted its options and is forced to limit government spending
11.09.2026 06:34The Ukrainian government has introduced a special border regime in a one-kilometer strip along the border with Russia and Belarus for the duration of martial law.
This was announced by the State Border Guard Service of the country.
The corresponding changes are enshrined in Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 1049. The document has entered into force, and state border protection agencies have begun implementing it.
Within the one-kilometer strip, free entry, presence, residence, and movement of people are prohibited. The restrictions also apply to any work not related to the defense of Ukraine or the protection of the state border. The measures affect all land plots within the established zone.
“This is due to the need to address urgent issues related to strengthening the defense capability of the state,” the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.
The authorities emphasized that the restrictions introduced are temporary in nature and will remain in effect exclusively for the duration of martial law.
Earlier, the State Border Committee of Belarus reinforced operational coverage of the state border, including on the section with Russia. The agency introduced additional control measures in the border zone, tightened inspections of those entering the country, and increased the number of border patrols on the Ukrainian direction.
