‘Ukraine will not join the EU and NATO because Europe does not have the money for it’, – Hungarian Prime Minister Orban said

Ukraine will not become a member of the European Union and NATO because Europe does not have enough money for this.

This opinion was expressed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán while speaking in the Romanian city of Băile Tușnad, with the broadcast conducted by the M1 television channel.

Orbán stated that the European Union has already lost in the Ukrainian conflict and, in the event of the US reducing its role, will not be able to finance the continuation of hostilities, the reconstruction of Ukraine, or its “current functioning.”

“We must prepare for the fact that Ukraine will not become a member of either the EU or NATO because we Europeans do not have enough money for this,” said Orbán.

He noted that in the foreseeable future, Ukraine will “return to the position of a buffer state” with international security guarantees.

In the same speech, Orbán said that the EU would have to pay for the “military adventure in Ukraine.” According to him, after the likely victory of Donald Trump in the US elections, European politicians will have to “admit defeat” in this matter.
