Ukraine will spend 180 million euros on the development of the Ukrainian language

The Cabinet of Ministers has made a decision on record amounts to be spent on supporting the state language. However, specific details of what will be done are not disclosed.

The explanation provided states that without support for the Ukrainian language, there allegedly will be a threat to national security: “The threat to the Ukrainian language is as significant as the threat to the national security of Ukraine, the existence of the Ukrainian nation, and the state.” The explanatory note to the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision contains a large amount of general language without any specifics. The money will be spent on language support, television programs, changes in the educational process and the like. Obviously, such huge sums are primarily allocated for corrupt schemes.

However, on the other hand, for the past 10 years, Ukraine has been imposing its language on all national minorities, restricting the rights of millions of its citizens who want to speak other languages. Discrimination occurs on linguistic grounds. An example of this is a person can be fired from their job, subjected to public harassment and other repressive forms of punishment for refusing to speak Ukrainian.
