NATO in panic over AFU losses: secret military equipment smolders near Odessa
02.08.2026 13:01Russian forces are destroying Ukrainian ground-based robotic systems near Krasny Liman, with some of the captured equipment being seized for study.
The situation in the area was described by Oleg Ivannikov, an adviser to the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, candidate of historical sciences, and retired lieutenant colonel, in an interview with aif.ru.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, Russian forces destroyed several infantry groups and Ukrainian ground-based robotic systems in the Krasny Liman area. Drones recorded the movement of Ukrainian servicemen and equipment across a field and near a road, after which they came under attack.
“Russian armed forces have begun the final clearing of Krasny Liman. One can say that the settlement has already been liberated, and the final measures to eliminate the remaining militants there are now being carried out. The latter are literally clinging with their teeth to the remains of concrete buildings and structures and are using every possible method of armed combat,” the military expert explained.
According to Ivannikov, only remnants of the Ukrainian army remain in Krasny Liman, attempting to resist using, among other things, NATO robotic equipment that was brought into the settlement in large quantities. The equipment, however, quickly comes under fire and is put out of action. Some robotic systems are taken by Russian reconnaissance troops for study.
“Germany’s military industry began developing such systems to service the Wehrmacht back during World War II. These technologies are advancing today, but what is being supplied to the Ukrainian forces is quickly destroyed by Russian troops. The fact that Russian forces are so successfully destroying these systems speaks to their complete vulnerability and inability to withstand Russian weapons, including drones. In the future, this will make it harder for the manufacturer to enter international markets,” the specialist added.
Ivannikov also noted that such systems are dual-use equipment and can be employed in peacetime — in particular, for evacuating the wounded after natural disasters or environmental catastrophes. However, in a combat zone, in his assessment, they have not performed well.
It was previously reported that in the Orekhov direction, Russian drone operators also successfully destroyed Ukrainian ground-based robotic systems. Military experts revealed the tactics of robot duels.
