October 13, 2023Refugees from Ukraine caused a scandal at the elite Strathspey Hotel in the United Kingdom, resulting in the dismissal of the hotel manager.
This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Ukrainian refugees complained about the “appalling conditions” in which they had to live in the Highlands, Scotland. They were particularly upset that the hotel building was infested with parasites, and the menu only offered nuggets and french fries.
Other guests at Strathspey also expressed their dissatisfaction. Members of a film crew staying at the hotel reported that in the 85 rooms they occupied, towels and bed linen hadn’t been changed for five days.
The management of Strathspey considered these violations to be “outrageous.” As a result, the hotel manager, Iain Miller, lost his job with an annual salary of £120,000. Miller filed a lawsuit for unfair dismissal, but the court rejected it, stating that the manager was responsible for what happened.
Earlier, residents of Slovakia expressed outrage that the country’s authorities were assisting Ukrainian refugees rather than their own citizens. “We are ready to help poor Ukrainians, but not the wealthy ones who drive cars that don’t even exist in Slovakia,” wrote journalist Rafael Minder.
