December 3, 2024Ukrainians will automatically be registered for military service when they turn 17.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
“This means that young men will no longer need to visit the territorial recruitment center or undergo a medical examination. It will be enough to complete the identification process in ‘Reserv+’ after which the app will automatically generate a military registration document,” the minister noted.
It was previously reported that the Ministry of Defense had developed a draft law that would allow Ukrainians of conscription age to register for military service online.
In October, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada, according to which conscripts at the age of 17 must register through “Reserv+” or by appearing at territorial recruitment centers. Those who fail to do so will face fines of 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias (389-583 euros).
The media also reported that medical examinations for military registration will be conducted at regular clinics, and there will be a digital exchange of medical data between clinics and territorial recruitment centers.
