02.01.2025 15:35The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police of Ukraine have dismantled new schemes for evading mobilization in western and southern Ukraine.
This was reported by the press center of the SBU.
As a result of comprehensive operations, six organizers of the schemes were detained.
“The perpetrators sold fake medical certificates indicating disability or smuggled draft evaders across the border, bypassing checkpoints. The cost of such services ranged from $5,000 to $15,000 per client,” the statement said.
In particular, in the Zakarpattia region, a man attempted to cross into Romania hidden under a pile of garbage. His accomplice planned to transport him through a checkpoint using a horse-drawn cart covered with construction debris. This service cost him $4,500.

In the Odesa region, three residents of the Podilsk district, aged 21 to 25, were detained for guiding conscription-age men across the border on foot through so-called “green zones.”
In Bukovyna, a local doctor was charged with selling fake medical certificates claiming the second group of disability after leaving his medical position. He reportedly used personal connections in the Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) to execute the schemes.
It’s worth recalling that in Zakarpattia, attempts were made to smuggle draft evaders across the border disguised as participants in a funeral procession.
Previously, border guards detained a draft evader pretending to be a mute and disabled individual. His deception was exposed by his voice messages.
