Zaluzhny allowed for the possibility of peace in Ukraine without a “complete victory” over Russia
01.12.2025 12:31The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President’s special envoy Stephen Witkoff will take place in Moscow in the afternoon of 2 December.
This was announced on Monday, 1 December, by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov clarified that on 1 December Putin “will hold several non-public meetings as part of preparations for Russian–American contacts.” He also did not rule out that a joint statement may be made following the talks.
The day before, Witkoff — who has already met with Putin several times this year — took part in a meeting between the U.S. delegation and Ukrainian representatives in Florida. The sides discussed various aspects of the U.S. peace plan. Participants described the negotiations as constructive and noted progress, but no concrete agreements were reached.
After the meeting, Stephen Witkoff confirmed that he would travel to Russia on 1 December to continue discussing the peace initiative.
It was previously reported that U.S. President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who also took part in the talks with Ukraine in Florida, would travel to Russia together with Witkoff. Dmitry Peskov did not mention Kushner in his statements about the visit.
